NCERT Solutions for Class 8 Maths Chapter 12 Introduction to Graphs Exercise 13.2
NCERT Solutions for class 8 Maths Chapter 13 Exercise 13.2 Factorisation updated for CBSE Session 2024-25. All the question or ex. 13.2 class 8th mathematics are revised according to new syllabus and latest NCERT boos issued for CBSE 2024.25.

Solution (a) :- Take the number of apples on the X-axis and cost of Y-axis. Take scale for x-axis as 2 unit = 1 apple and for y-axis as 2 unit = 5 rupees.
Now Plot the points (1,5), (2,10), (3,15), (4,20), (5,25) to get the number of apples-cost linear graph:

Solution (b):- Take time on x-axis and distance travelled on Y-axis. Take scale for x-axis as 2 unit = 1hour and for y-axis as 2 unit = -40 Km.
Now plot the points (6,40), (7,80), (8,120) and (9,160) to get the time-distance linear graph:

(i) The Car covered 20 Km distance.
(ii) It was 7.30 am, when it covered 100 km distance.
Solution (c): Take deposit on X-axis and simple interest on Y-axis. Take scale for x-axis as 2 unit = 1000 ₹ and for Y-axis as 2 unit = 80 ₹
Now plot the points (1000,80), (2000,160), (3000,240), (4000,320), and (5000,400) to get the time distance linear graph:

(i) Does the graph pass through the origin?
Ans: From the graph, one can observe that the graph passes through the origin.
(ii) Use the graph to find the interest on ₹ 2,500 for a year.
Ans: ₹ 2,500 lies in between ₹ 2,000 and ₹ 3,000, therefore interest on ₹ 2,500 lies right in the middle of ₹ 160 and ₹ 240, i.e., 200.
Thus, interest on ₹ 2,500 for a year is 200.
(iii) To get an interest of ₹ 280 per year, how much money should be deposited?
Ans: ₹ 280 lies right in the middle of ₹ 240 and ₹ 320, therefore deposit with respect to it lies right in the middle of ₹ 3,000 and ₹ 4,000, i.e., ₹ 3,500.
Thus, to get an interest of ₹ 280 per year, ₹ 3,500 must be deposited.

Solution:-
(i) Yes, it is a linear graph.

(ii) No, it is not a linear graph because the graph does not provide a straight line.
